What's Happening!

My sincerest apologies for not submitting a journal entry in the last eight months. Let me tell you what's been happening and what will be happening soon. Back in May, I had the great pleasure of participating in RJ Mischo's Harmonica showcase at The Mojo Lounge in Fremont. To share the stage with masters like Mark Hummel and Gary Smith, it was a real thrill!

In June, I was one of the headliner acts at The Budweiser Blues Festival in Jackson, Michigan. The people there were all very friendly and supportive. My deepest thanks to Greg Hanna and Cindy Hayden who helped make it happen for me. Also, it was a great experience getting the musical backing from Doug Deming and The Jeweltones, a great blues group out of Detroit.

The summer has been relatively quiet. I've managed to balance gigs between my two bands, The High Rollers and Louis' Blues. I've recently re-joined forces with my longtime friend and cohort, Bruce Todd and played some very enjoyable gigs with him on guitar. We recently appeared together at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company as a (semi) accoustic act with an upright bass player. We were so well-received there, that we'll be doing it again in October and November (check calendar page for details).

As some of you may know, last year I played at The Soul Shine Blues Festival in Bascom, Ohio. I teamed up with the Sean Carney Band from Columbus, as well as a very energetic and talented piano player from Middletown named Jimmy Rogers. I am happy to say that we will all be reunited for another appearance at Soul Shine this September. In addition to the festival, I've managed to piece together a nice little tour (5 dates) through Indiana, Chicago, Ohio and Michigan. We'll be mostly performing the music of Louis Jordan, but we'll also play originals from Sean and myself at the last gig on Sept 30th. It should be a total blast and I can't wait to get it started! For more information on Sean Carney, check out his website,, and pick up a copy of his great new CD, "Life of Ease." Yours truly is featured on one of the tracks.

Before I leave for the Midwest, I'll be playing a few gigs right here in the Bay Area. On Sunday Sept. 10th, I'll be playing with Louis' Blues at the world renowned Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco. It's a great establishment with excellent Southern-style food. The show will start at 8 pm and all ages are welcome. On Friday, Sept. 15th, I'll be celebrating my birthday with The High Rollers at The Poorhouse Bistro in San Jose. This is another great venue with excellent New Orleans-style food. That show starts at 6 pm.

I've recently been working a bit on some new original material. So far, I've got about 6 or 7 songs worked out. I'm looking forward to recording a few tracks this fall as well as this upcoming winter. I hope to have something out early next year. Stay tuned for more details and updates on that. Well, I hope I wasn't too long-winded with this entry, but I've finally gotten you all up-to-date on everything. Thanks for all of your continued support and appreciation. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming show.

All my best,
